As one of its founding member, and former coordinator, the MWMN is actively engaged in the activities promoted within the Global Alliance of Regional Women Mediator Networks (Global Alliance).

A delegation of the Mediterranean Women Mediators Network – together with the other regional networks – FemWise-Africa Network, Nordic Women Mediators, Arab Women Mediators Network, Women Mediators across the Commonwealth, Southeast Asian Network of Women Peace Negotiators and Mediators  – participated in the Annual Meeting of the Global Alliance hosted by the African Union Headquarters in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), on December 11-12.

This meeting was a unique opportunity to discuss with many inspiring women mediators from across the globe about the current deteriorating global security, how to give more space to women in conflict resolution and the role of our networks, exchanging experiences and lessons learned.

In particular, the MWMN organized a panel on “Keeping the Focus on Inclusiveness and Meaningful Participation in an Increasingly Polarised World”. The panel aimed to initiate discussions on collaborative solutions within the Global Alliance and beyond. Recent years have seen increased polarization, complicating conflicts, exemplified by tragic events in Palestine. This polarization has weakened emphasis on peace mediation and dialogue, leaving inclusiveness and meaningful participation from civil society, women, and youth more vulnerable than ever.
