In September 2023, the MWMN was actively engaged in a unique exchange with the Syrian Women Advisory Board (WAB) – established in 2016 by the United Nations Special Envoy for Syria – focused on the inclusion and participation of women in political processes, in Syria and in regional dynamics.
This enriching exchange, attended by eight representatives of the MWMN from Lebanon, Turkey, Egypt and Italy, as well as experts from the Secretariat, was held in Rome – where the MWMN promoted an event at Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI) – and culminated in a high-level round table at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in which the centrality of a political solution to the Syrian conflict within the framework of the UN Resolution was reaffirmed.
