On 24 October 2023, the Mediterranean Women Mediators Network promoted at the UN Headquarters the event “From ‘Meaningful Participation’ to ‘Intentional Women-Led Mediation’. Insights from Intersecting Crises”, in collaboration with the recently established Pacific Women Mediators Network, UN Women, the Permanent Representation of Italy at the UN, and the Permanent Mission of Tonga to the UN.
The debate, attended by mediators of various regional networks, highlighted the added value of the Networks of Women Mediators, effective tools to address multiple crises and non-traditional threats, such as climate change, sharing concrete examples of women mediators’ work and reiterating the need to consider networks as a strategic tool to achieve a truly sustainable and lasting peace.
The meeting also launched an exchange project with the Pacific Network promoted by UNWOMEN and carried out together with WIIS Italy.
